Work Environment The Job "Behavior" Operations ManualThe Job Behavior Style . . . Every job that requires human effort has a work environment. That work environment can be best described in terms of behavior. Simply put, "If the job could talk, what behavioral characteristics would it ask for?" When the behavior style identified by the work environment is in agreement with the natural behavior style of the person performing the job, the person has the potential to experience less tension and results in better productivity. If the behavior style identified by the work environment is not in agreement with the natural behavior style of the person performing the job, the person has the potential to experience more tension and the results can have a negative affect on longevity and work performance. This analysis provides you with information on the intensity of each of the four factors of the behavioral style analysis (Dominance - Influence - Steadiness - Compliance). You and your leader can use the results of this analysis, the job description and your behavior style analysis results to understand and maximize your effectiveness in this specific job. Changing work environments require the need to clearly focus on the behavioral requirements of the specific job you are currently performing. Conflict, misunderstanding, and poor performance can be the price paid for lack of job clarity. This Work Environment Report can provide information required to clarify the behavioral demands of the job. Dominance Factor . . . This analysis identifies how the job requires you to respond to problems and challenges. Scope of authority, power, decisiveness may be key areas. Influence Factor . . . This analysis identifies how the job requires you to influence other people to a way of thinking or doing. Trust, openness, facts and data (oral or written), discussion, and communication are key areas. Steadiness Factor . . . This analysis identifies how the job requires you to deal with activity levels. Change, persistence, consistency, and listening skills are key areas. Compliance Factor . . . This analysis identifies how the job requires you to respond to rules set by others and quality results the first time. Key areas to consider are rules required to maintain quality, accuracy, and precision. |
